Jamieson decided to start documenting her life in photographs when she was diagnosed as HIV-positive in 1995.

That's probably why, she says, she tends to notice the very, very small things--like the shadow thrown by a broken egg or the way spilled water looks on a colorful piece of glass. "When someone tells you that you have a disease that may kill you, you tend to look at things differently," she says. "I've noticed that people have responded to the notion that I'm showing them things that they don't notice on an everyday basis."
